Redwoods and Red Wine. Ready When You Are.

Wine Country is home to some of the most amazing wines in this country. Fun fact: The Willamette Valley in Oregon is home to 70 percent of Oregon’s wineries and vineyards. The Willamette Valley is known for its pinot noir with more than 230 wineries and vineyards. It also offers the opportunity for many outdoor activities. One of my favorite areas to visit is Napa County, California, which has more than 1,700 wineries and more than 400 tasting rooms.

With that said, there is so much more to wine country than just wine. While tasting wine, and learning the craftsmanship that goes into winemaking is truly amazing, there are so many other activities when visiting wineries and their surrounding areas. Whether it is hiking through the Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve in Sonoma County, eating at a three-star Michelin restaurant in Yountville or visiting art galleries after a day of biking, hiking and floating in a hot air balloon, the activities are truly endless.

Who says wine trips and tastings have to be on land? River Boat Wine trips in Europe give you the opportunity to see the iconic sights in regions known for their vineyards. One such region surrounds Bordeaux, France. You may visit Saint-Émilion, known for its vineyards, while exploring ancient cites and enjoying a unique wine tasting at Château de Ferrand or Château de Pressac. Another option is to visit the Medoc region of France and tour a famous wine estate such as Château Latour or Château Lafite Rothschild. Traveling by river boat presents an opportunity for those not as interested in wineries to visit castles, historic towns, art museums and the small villages in and around Bordeaux.

The Wine Country region

The Wine Country region in most any country is typically home to some of the most amazing restaurants as well. Napa Valley is a prime example of this. Napa is home to six Michelin Starred restaurants. Wine country has something for everyone and is worth the trip to go explore for yourself.
